Exam tips for JLPT Level N1

I’ve just published my second article in Helium – Exam Tips: Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N1.

I know it’s not that much and there’s still a lot of room for improvement, so any feedback will be highly appreciated.

I’m also re-posting the said article as a sub-page in Study Plans -> Exam Tips: JLPT N1.

For any discrepancy with any information I wrote, please do inform me. I need an external observer for this. :)

Hi, Jonathan. Just a curious instinct popped up from my brain. I took JLPT 2 last year December, and sadly I failed in that exam. So, I planned to retake it in December 2010 together with N1. My question is how do you plan out your preparation for the exam? Including memorizing all the kanji, understanding the passage and texts and the correct usage of high vocabularies. Can you share with me your experience?

    Thanks a bunch.
    Regards.

p/s: By the way, I’m taking the exam in Malaysia.

    Hi Nana,

Sorry for the very late reply. I went back to the Philippines for a short vacation.

Also, I’m not sure what you meant by “together” in “I planned to retake it in December 2010 together with N1.” As far as I know, you’re only allowed to take one level at a time. But more or less I think I get what you mean.

As far as my JLPT N1 preparations, I briefly discussed it here, but it’s not a solid plan and will require a repost or a re-plan.

As for my experience w/ JLPT L2, my answer would be two-fold: first would be how I approached the exam, and second would be the actual study methods I used.

The first will be easy to explain, but the second will need a little bit of organizing because I jumped between study methods – mainly between Heisig and rote memorization.

I’ll try to post my reply this weekend.

Thanks for visiting and good luck on your preparations as well!

    Regards,
    Jonathan
